Backend Engineer

Job Description and Responsibilities:
Backend Engineers at LotusFlare are replacing traditional business backends with an engagement-centric, dynamic product stack. They are responsible for further developing, securing, and scaling the backend infrastructure to support the platform to handle millions of concurrent API calls. Every engineer is an integral part of our global engineering team and is directly responsible for more than half of a million users of our platforms. They are working on mission-critical, highly available distributed systems.
- Your day usually starts with a daily meeting/standup/quick sync-up
- Your daily responsibilities include the entire software cycle from developing/testing, to code reviews and maintaining/managing your code/application on production.
- You closely collaborate with product and other functional engineering teams
- You take time out of your day to closely collaborate with your teammates, asking questions or providing answers
- You take ownership of the code you write
Requirments:
- BA/BS in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience would be a plus
- Programming experience in Java/ any JVM language / C++ / Scala/ Lua
- Experience in building secure scalable web services
- Experience with distributed systems
- Experience with RESTful services
- Good understanding of network stack and HTTP protocol
- Experience with concurrency, multithreading, or asynchronous programming
- Knowledge of data modeling in SQL and/or NoSQL environment
- Experience with (any combination of) AWS, Redis, Kafka, and Cassandra would be a plus
